Scholarship Award:
The Monitors Foundation annually awards the Gwen and Beck Horton Scholarship to graduating African American males who have been admitted to an accredited post-secondary institution. The objectives are to provide financial opportunities and extra-classroom experiences to enhance the leadership, social skills and well-being of African American males in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. Senior graduating Chosen to Achieve participants are eligible to apply for the Monitors Foundation Gwen and Beck Horton Scholarship for post-secondary education.

Community-Based Organization Award :
Supports nonprofit community-based organizations whose mission is to advance the educational, social and economic well-being of African American youth in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. These include, for example, the Links, Boys Scouts, the Covington Scholarship Foundation and other community-based organization whose mission is similar to the Monitors Foundation.

Pre-Secondary Student Support Award:
Supports pre-secondary student participation in classroom and extra-classroom programs designed to enhance intellectual preparation for secondary school and post-secondary education. Foundation funds support the “Future is Now” Program which identifies eligible African American males for financial support from elementary to secondary school graduation. Selected students are required to participate and successfully complete the “Chosen to Achieve” Program. Chosen to Achieve is a mentor-based program designed to enhance the academic proficiencies and life skills of young African American males. Senior graduating Chosen to Achieve participants are eligible to apply for the Monitors Foundation Gwen and Beck Horton Scholarship for post-secondary education.
